Kidney Stones In Women

July 5th, 2008

by J. Johnson

It was once thought that kidney stones occurred mostly in men, however, nowadays, cases of kidney stones in women are on the rise. Over the past few years the incidence of the kidney stones in women is increasing. This has happened because of the wrong lifestyle of today.

Strutuvite kidney stone cases in the women are increasing these days. These occur more in number in women than men. Chronic bacterial infection of the urinary tract is the primary cause. Diets, which are rich in calories and have lower proportions of proteins, vitamins, minerals, etc. areamong the reasons.

Kidney stones is a disease in which stones occur in the kidneys. These stones are the aggregates of foreign particles and some waste materials from the body and dead cells. It is important that the kidney stones be detected during the initial stages. Otherwise, they may be fatal. In most cases, the kidney stones consist of calcium aggregates. The occurrence of the stones is highest in the women taking supplements of calcium.

The consumption of beverages and other alcoholic products is another factor that is responsible for the higher occurrence of kidney stones in women. Men are less sensitive to them then women.

The common symptom of kidney stones is the pain in the lower abdomen during menstruation. However, this pain is very mild and therefore most of the time it remains undetected. However, if at the same time they experience some urinary problems such as pain during urination, change in color of urine, blood in urine, or disorders and other symptoms such as dullness, fever, nausea or vomiting and if no other reason is found for these, then kidney stones may be the reason.

Therefore, ideally, whenever these symptoms occur unexplainably, then this is a thing to worry. Therefore these should be taken seriously, because the reason they are occurring may be internal. As some serious disease may have occurred in the body and it may possibly be kidney stones.

If the menstrual pain persists even after the menstruation or even if it is abnormal, then there may be something wrong in the internal system of the body, favorably the kidneys.

Kidney stones are a serious disease, which can cause complications such as infections, blockages, inflammation and eventually they may lead to death. They should be removed from the body as soon as they are detected.

One of the treatments commonly used for the kidney stones is the uriflow. In this treatment some substances, which have properties through which they can dissolve the kidney stones, are taken orally. They dissolve the kidney stones and then the stones are removed from the body through the urine. In addition, the other drugs that are used in the uriflow treatment also, aid in the removal of the kidney stones from the body and in relieving the body from pain.

Causes Of Ovarian Cysts

July 4th, 2008

by Alex Morgan

There are many different causes of ovarian cysts. Under the normal menstrual cycle, ovaries grow cyst-like structures called follicles each month. These follicles produce hormones necessary for pregnancy such as estrogen and progesterone. Ovarian cysts can form when a normal follicle continues to grow for an abnormal period of time.

Among ovarian cysts, follicular cysts are the most prevalent. They hardly ever produce any symptoms and usually resolve by themselves. They are usually harmless. Follicular ovarian cysts are usually caused when the pituitary gland hormones that stimulate egg release by the ovaries cause the follicle to swell instead. The enlarged follicle develops into a cyst.

Frequent causes of ovarian cysts occur when luteinizing hormones surge and an egg is release. When the egg is released, estrogen and progesterone are created by the ruptured follicle to prepare for the hypothetical conception. When the egg is sealed off, fluid accumulates inside the follicle and becomes what is called a corpus luteum. The corpus luteum will then expand and at that point becomes a cyst.

A corpus luteum cyst will typically disappear on its own without any treatment, although it could grow to 4 inches in diameter during just a period of a few weeks. It could also bleed internally or twist an ovary. If the corpus luteum cyst ruptures this can cause internal bleeding in addition to sudden sharp or severe pain.

Clomiphene citrate, a commonly prescribed fertility drug to induce ovulation, might be a cause of ovarian cysts. Usage of this drug may result in an increased risk that a corpus luteum cyst might develop. Corpus luteum cysts by themselves do not pose a risk to pregnancy.

Hemorrhagic or endometrioid cysts are cysts that contain blood and develop like the other ovarian cysts. The blood composition of the cyst comes from an injury or from blood vessel leakage into the egg sac. Some causes of ovarian cysts can be attributed to the bleeding and shedding endometrial tissue that imbeds itself in the ovaries. This build up will eventually rupture and cause pelvic pain.

Though it is not possible to completely prevent the causes of ovarian cysts, increasing exercise, controlling stress, improving the quality of your diet, and improving your health can help minimize the probability of the development of an ovarian cyst.

Adopting A Diabetes Diet Plan

July 1st, 2008

by Max Peykar

One of the best and most recommended ways of keeping diabetes in check is by following a diabetes diet plan. Of course, you have to consult a nutritionist before you embark on one, but following such a diet plan is the ideal way of making sure that diabetes does not get the best of you. A qualified nutritionist can make sure that there is enough variation in the diet without sacrificing any of the essential nutrition that your body needs.

The typical diet plan for a diabtic must include 50% starch, 30% protein and 20% fat. The diabetic food pyramid recommends a certain measurement level and because of this, preparing diabetic food must be done according to exact and standard measurements, such as 1 cup, 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon.

You will have to pass up on some of the food stuff that you like, like fried foods. Instead, you will have to focus on baked, steamed, boiled and broiled foods when you are on your healthy eating plan. Snacking between meals is not allowed either - and you must make sure that you never miss meals, because that can affect your metabolism.

On your diabetes diet plan, you will have to avoid a lot of foods like whole milk products, frozen and preserved fruits, honey, candy, sweets, confectionery items, your favorite desserts - instead, you must stick to healthy alternatives, like fresh fruits and vegetables and skimmed milk for your diary intake.

Binges out on the town are out of the picture, too, when you are on your diabetic eating plan. Alcohol should be strictly avoided. Red meat, mayonnaise, eggs and other foods that are high in cholesterol and fat content should be avoided as far as possible too. Fizzy drinks, sauces and dressings and bottled juice are other items you must try and avoid. What you should aim at is a daily intake of around 1800 calories. This means that your daily diet must be carefully planned.

The simplest and most nutritious diabetes diet plan for a single day can include a breakfast containing 2/3 cup of apple juice, cup of oatmeal, 1 slice of wholemeal bread toast, 1 soft cooked egg and 1 cup unsweetened skimmed milk. Lunch can be cup of tuna, 2 slices of wholemeal bread, cup diced tomatoes, 1 cup mixed fruit, 1 tsp margarine and 1 glass lemon tea. The ideal dinner meal would be 3 ounces of baked chicken, cup of mashed potatoes, 1 slice of wholemeal bread, 1 cup broccoli or tossed salad. Try not to use store-bought salad dressing. Instead, use a 1tsp of olive oil mixed with some vinegar mixed in chopped garlic and parsley/basil/sage or oregano to add flavor.

As you can see, preparing a nutritious and energy-generating diet needs good knowledge about basic nutrients required to keep your body healthy and a good understanding of how your metabolic system works. You can easily get your doctor to help with creating an easy-to-follow, enjoyable and wholesome diabetes diet plan.

2 Best Ways For Treating Anxiety Attacks

June 29th, 2008

by Mike

Is your normal daily life disrupted by anxiety attacks? Is it keeping you on your toes every time? Then you must follow the two best ways that I’m going to talk about here for treating anxiety attacks.

Treating anxiety attacks is not a problem if you understand the hidden structure. You have a variety of medications for treating anxiety attacks. But I prefer natural ways to treat your anxiety attacks.

The two powerful methods are…

Cognitive Behavior Therapy

Treating anxiety attacks is perfectly possible with Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Many research studies made it clear that around 85% of anxiety patients were cured within 20 rounds.

You will learn in this therapy how your thinking influences your emotions (how you feel), your behavior (how you act), and your body reactions.

For example, if you lose your job and feel it’s a disaster, you’ll become depressed and experience anxiety. On the other hand, if you focus on the things you didn’t like about your job and see this as an opportunity to find a better job, then you won’t feel depressed and anxious.

So with Cognitive behavior therapy, you will understand your own psyche. Then you can suddenly become free of your negative thinking and anxiety attacks.

Religious Or Spiritual Practice

True religion or spiritual practice is very powerful. It can cure various aspects of mental health. Many studies have shown that religious people have fewer depressive or anxiety symptoms.

Prayer or meditation or any kind of religious practice will soothe anxiety disorder. Sacred books like Bible can also do wonders. You should try to understand the underlying meaning of every word in the books. Then stress, anxiety and depression just disappear!

I recommend you to read Eckhart Tolly’s “A New Earth” and “The Power Of Now” books. ‘A New Earth’ will help you discover lot of things about how your ego operates. And how it takes control of your life every minute. The moment you understand it, you will become free from anxiety.

So treating anxiety attacks is absolutely possible with religious and spiritual practice. And the cure is for permanent!

Now with this useful information, treating anxiety attacks is easy.
